Talib Kweli - Rare Portraits

While touring with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis last fall, I had the honor of getting to know the Hip-Hop legend Talib Kweli. He pitched an idea for a simple music video for a track off his freshly released album Gravitas. The concept was genius. A walk from dressing room to stage while rapping about his career, influence, collaborations and the culture of hip - hop over the last 20 years. After tossing the idea around for a few weeks on the road we finally decided to shoot in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.

This was a perfect job for the MoVI M10 from freefly systems. A long walk? stabilized? done. Special thanks to Ryan Haug, Chris Duerkopp & Mitchell Overton.
Check it out, I'd love your thoughts.

CMG MoVI CREW

Touring with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for the past couple months has been an extremely exciting ride. With a 10 person documentary film crew loaded with 190TB of storage, 2 RED Epics, 1 RED Scarlet, 4 Nikon D800s a slew PL CP.2s, RED, Nikon and Canon Lenses. We have been extremely well equipped to create some amazing content. Our entire goal has been to capture the real nature of life on tour.  Through this experience I have made some amazing friends and sharpened my skills as a cinematographer. With only two weeks left on the tour I will be sad for it to end but I am excited for what lies ahead.

I have been extremely fortunate to partner with Ryan Haug of 8Point.tv and join Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on the US portion of their world tour. Armed with one of the very first commercially available MoVI M10 and three RED EPICs we will be shooting everyday, every show. 54 days, 33 shows. Stay tuned for more!
